Arrival and Dismissal

 

Students may enter the school at 7:45am, however will be seated in the hallway in front of our class room until I open our door at 8:05am. A staff member and fifth grade safety patrol members will monitor the hallways while the children sit and wait. School begins promptly at 8:15am and afternoon dismissal is at 3:15pm. If your child's regular form of dismissal transportation changes, please write me a note and put it in your child's folder. If school is in session and you need to change how your child is getting home, please contact the school office and they will notify me.

 

Volunteer Hours

 

Children perform better in school when their parents/guardians are involved in their school and take an active interest in their education.  Any time a parent is on our campus, whether to eat lunch with their child, conference with a teacher, or to assist students in a classroom, lunchroom, or outside setting, they will receive hours of credit for parent involvement. I will not be having volunteers in the classroom for the first few weeks of school; I need some time to get the children into a routine. Volunteer opportunties will begin soon. I will use the volunteer sheet you filled out and contact you about helping out.

 

Birthdays

 

Birthdays are special occasions for young children. If your child wishes, he/she may bring a treat for the class. We will have their special treat at the end of the school day. I will send home invitations to your child's birthday party if you wish, however only if every student in the class is invited or all children in our class that are of the same gender as your child (if your child is a boy, invitations to all of the boys in our class). I will not give parent phone numbers or email addresses out for invitation purposes.

 

Transportation

 

Having the proper transportation recorded is extremely important, especially in kindergarten.  If your child will be going home a different way than they usually do, I need it in writing; if this is a last minute change, please call the front office and they will notify me.
